The most important part of your DMS is the data within it. The hardware and software are just tools to store and access the data. It is the data that adds value to your bottom line and your dealership's profitability.

Recently, some DMS vendors have been asserting greater control over the dealership’s data by disabling programs traditionally used to access and export the dealership’s data. These vendors have claimed that this alteration was made in the name of “security” but these claims appear doubtful.

So why is your DMS vendor trying to prevent you from exporting your data.

The reason is simple:
Your vendor wants to keep your data locked up as tightly as possible so they can keep charging you (and other vendors!) to access it.
The first step is to get a contract (or a contract amendment) that forces your DMS vendor to: (1) give you free and unfettered access to your data, including the right to export that data; and (2) assist you in exporting the data in the event that you make the decision to switch DMS vendors.

If you think that you already have these protections then you are probably wrong. If you send us your contract for a free review then we will thoroughly review it and determine what rights you have to demand your data
