Dear Volunteers,

Independence Day is an opportunity for us all to celebrate the valuable rights and privileges we have living in the greatest nation on earth. It is also a day to remember that freedom is never given, it is hard-won. Current world events should make clear that our independence and freedom can only be treasured and enjoyed by future generations if we follow the words of John F. Kennedy – "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty."

I know that each of you share my belief that only in America could Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium have over 60 years of independence that allows us the freedom and ability to have such a positive collective impact in the world – through our shared passions for marine science, conservation, education and public service. It is important that we continue to work together to ensure the vitality of Mote for generations to come.

Thank you all for your dedication to our unique and independent institution. Sharon and I send our best wishes to each of you and your families for a very happy and safe Fourth of July!

Cheers!

Dr. Michael P. Crosby
President & CEO

P.S. - With greater number of boats on the water and visitors on the beach this holiday weekend, there are additional challenges for marine life.  If you would like to share Mote wildlife safety tips with your friends and loved ones, you can use this news release on our web site - https://mote.org/news/article/be-kind-to-marine-life-during-july-4-weekend1
