From our
Volunteer Desk

  Dear Mote Volunteers,

I am sorry to announce that Jean Smith-Kruse has resigned from her post in the Volunteer Office. We are incredibly thankful for all of the hard work, dedication and smiles she brought to this position. Jean's last day will be January 18th. Jean will be very much missed, but please join me in wishing her the best in her retirement!

A farewell note from Jean:
As per tradition, I am sending out my goodbye message. It is not easy for me to write this as my last correspondence before leaving Mote. It has been a memorable journey celebrating and learning with you all. It is a time to remember the laughs, food and friendships I have encountered and enjoyed the past 4 and a half years. Please accept my gratitude for your support and encouragement. My very best wishes for the future goes out to each and every one of you!

And now the time has come to announce that I am headed off to begin my next Chapter---
Retirement!
Jean

As we seek opportunities to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of our organizational structure, we have had the opportunity to take a critical look at the department. In an effort to better serve the volunteers, we have decided that we will not immediately hire a director. Instead we will be hiring an additional part-time coordinator (so 3 total), with each of the coordinators having specific areas of responsibility along with overlapping day-to-day duties. This will allow for, enhanced support to the volunteers, more targeted development of new initiatives and more overall flexibility to better respond to the needs of our organization. As the Assistant Vice President for Education, I will be much more involved with the operations and management of the Volunteer Department, seeking out areas of growth, identifying our strengths to capitalize on and seeking out ways we can continue to improve the support, processes and resources for our amazing volunteers! We will continue to reevaluate our situation, seek feedback and be open to evolving this new structure periodically throughout the upcoming months. In the meantime, Ralph Corse will continue in his role as Volunteer Coordinator and we will be working to fill the two part-time vacancies in a timely manner.
