Dear {Salutation},

As we continue to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Mote Marine Laboratory, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your dedicated support of our unique institution. Mote has achieved amazing things, thanks in large part to the valuable commitment of members of the Mote family, like you.

The scope and significance of Mote's diverse research, conservation and education programs in Florida and around the world are often not fully understood by everyone. That is why it is important that we create opportunities for our most dedicated supporters to learn more about our innovative work and the vital impact it will have on our future and the sustainability of our oceans. I also want to utilize our resources to present our supporters with information that will benefit them with aspects of their future – specifically financial planning for wills and trusts.

Mote's Legacy Society is made up of those inspirational supporters that champion Mote's mission by designating Mote in their estate plans or other types of planned gifts. These deferred gifts have become increasingly important in sustaining the mission of Mote and providing long-term financial stability to the institution, but often our supporters have questions about these types of gifts.

That is why I am pleased to invite you to join me to learn more about some of the exciting and impactful science-based initiatives we are conducting at Mote. I will also be joined by Jan Miller who is a Mote volunteer, the spouse of a Mote scientist and Executive Vice President and Trust Officer with Caldwell Trust. Jan is also a member of Mote's Legacy Society.

Jan and I will be hosting three 1-hour small group discussions here at Mote on Wednesday, July 29 at 4:00pm, Thursday, July 30 at 10:00am and Friday, July 31 at 10:00am to learn more about our vital work and the benefits of joining Mote's Legacy Society. Jan will be available to answer questions and share her insights about charitable giving. She is here solely as a resource for you to provide advice that may benefit both you and Mote.

If you are interested in joining us for this complimentary session, please RSVP to Aden Leonard at aleonard@mote.org or by calling 941-388-4441 x 309. Refreshments will be served and seating is limited.

Ever since Dr. Eugenie Clark founded Mote in 1955, the Lab has depended upon passionate people, and I am pleased to offer this opportunity to you. Thank you again for all that you do for Mote.

Sincerely,

Michael P. Crosby, Ph.D., FLS
