Pinnacle Shield Introduces Full Curbing and Cosmetic Wheel and Rim Damage Protection, an Industry First

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (December 5, 2013) — Pinnacle Shield, a national automotive service contract provider, has developed the nation’s first rim and wheel damage protection package that covers curbing and cosmetic damage. This is an industry first because it covers repairs, or when damage cannot be repaired, full replacement cost for consumers who scrape or scratch their wheels or rims.

According to the NADA the National average sales penetration for Tire and Rim Protection plans is about 8 percent, but dealers that are including curbing and cosmetic rim protection are seeing penetration averages closer to 27 percent. When the Pinnacle Shield Protection Package is offered as part of a menu, they’ve seen that number jump as high as 47 percent.

Travis Parker, the CEO of Pinnacle Shield, a 25-year auto industry veteran, developed this unique protection plan based on his experience as an F&I Manager, where the first question consumers frequently asked was whether damage to the wheels and rims was covered.

“When they were told no, 90 percent of the time the sale was lost,” Parker said. “That is why I developed this product.”

The sale of custom tires and rims is increasing, and customers who purchase traditional tire and wheel warranties are often sorely disappointed when they learn that cosmetic damage to their high-end rims is not covered.

“Our product covers this issue and will even pay for new rims in the event the cosmetic damage cannot be repaired,” Travis said. “This leads to improved customer satisfaction, and today negative reviews can destroy a business.”

This product was developed because of consumer demand and provides protection that has not been previously available in the marketplace, but it benefits dealers as well. Dealers that are offering this protection plan are seeing increased sales penetration and increased Fixed Operations revenue. All covered services are reimbursed to the dealer at 100% of the retail parts and labor, and the $0 deductible for the consumer makes it an easy choice.
